Just in case you’re interested here’s a little story about the history of Kindle House…..
In January 2010 whilst taking a relaxing break in the French Alps with some friends I decided that it was time to get myself back to work, there were just a couple of hurdles to overcome; I was now living in Ystradgynlais on the Southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park (previously I was in Hertfordshire working as a HR Manager), I now have two young daughters Lily and Beatrice to look after and my husband is running his own business which meant I needed to find a job for myself which was flexible…. my love of shopping and the fact that I had to travel at least 25 miles to find a home boutique left me with one obvious choice, to open my very own shop.
I knew exactly what brands I wanted to stock and I had a very clear vision of the type of lifestyle I wanted to represent, which I describe as ‘Chic Rural Living’. If you have visited the shop you’ll know exactly what I mean. The products at kindle House have been carefully chosen to offer our customers high quality, original products at reasonable prices.
Trying to find the right name for the shop was quite challenging. I wanted a name which had real meaning but most of the names I liked had already been registered. Then one day in March (2010) Lily, Beatrice and I were out on a walk collecting kindling and the name ‘Kindle House’ came to me. From this point there was no looking back, Kindle House was born.
The next task was finding a premises. I really couldn’t believe my luck when 74-76 Commercial Street became available. It was the perfect find; a lovely Victorian house with a shop front. I was handed the keys in June 2010 and set to work redesigning the building into a shop. I opened the doors on 20th October 2010 and haven’t looked back since.
If you ever get a chance, please do come along to see us. Kindle House is nestled amongst a small parade of shops in Ystradgynlais. It is a very unique shop which features a number of individually designed rooms showing: home and garden accessories, fashion accessories, soft furnishings, children’s toys, toiletries and gifts.
I hope you have fun during your virtual visit to Kindle House!
Very Warm Regards,
